Spencer’s story

(So Far)

Spencer Kelly is the BBC’s longest serving and most experienced technology presenter and journalist. He’s an internationally-known face of technology, and has hosted Click, the BBC’s worldwide Technology TV programme, since 2006. For more than 20 years he’s travelled the world, documenting how science and innovation is changing people’s lives. He also presents the BBC Radio 4 series Understand: Tech & AI.

He’s a proud geek, and is known in the industry for using his informal style and easy-going humour to explain technical topics to a broad audience.

His life-long love affair with technology has allowed him to write, direct and present hundreds of short films, and seen him win Tech Personality of the Year, lose Celebrity Mastermind (by a whisker), be awarded an honorary doctorate of Technology, front Panorama and present at the BAFTAs.

BROADCASTING

Spencer has been a fixture on radio and international TV for more than 20 years, making programmes in countries across the technology spectrum. From playing a robot at ping-pong in Japan, to the life-changing impact of just one SIM card on the townships of South Africa, he has filmed in 360 at the Large Hadron Collider (it made him cry), underneath one of the Fukushima nuclear reactors, and walked on Mars with NASA.
